Electric RaceAbout sets new EV record at the Nürburgring

When Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences announced the Electric RaceAbout (E-RA) last month, many didn’t pay much attention to it, but those same people are taking notice now. The E-RA has turned out to be a real menace out on the track, setting the new EV record at the Nurburgring.
The E-RA was driven by German race driver, Ralf Kelleners, during the attempt in which he needed to complete a full lap of 20,832 km in a time of only 8 minutes and 42.372 seconds. The world famous curvy and hilly Nurburgring track is also known as "Grne Hlle" - Green Hell - and widely used to benchmark the automotive top performance. It was put to good use for this attempt.
The average speed for the lap was 88 mph and the top speed was clocked in at 147 mph. What’s more impressive is that, during testing, the car hit a top speed of 151 mph. The E-RA consumed 25.6 kWh during its record lap, measured as energy taken from the grid to recharge the battery. This results in an energy consumption of 1230 Wh/km or 123 kWh/100km for the lap.

Kawasaki Ultra 260X Jet Ski
Posted on 09.29.2011 19:00 by Kirby , Sulthoni |
260 horsepower may not be all that big of a deal on the road anymore, but out in the waters where there are no speed limits, it’s a license to have some good ’ol fashion, jet-skiing fun.
That’s what the new Kawasaki Ultra 260X Jet Ski will give you and quite frankly, we’d give up a whole lot more to have one of these babies tucked in a trailer, ready for some open-sea action on the weekends.
But more than just the jet skis race-refined 1,498cc fuel-injected four-cylinder Kawasaki powerplant with a Roots-type supercharger that produces a mouth-watering 260 horsepower, the Ultra 260X is also a fine piece of jet ski awesomeness because it comes with top-of-the-line technology courtesy of the fine folks from Kawasaki.
To begin with, the fiberglass reinforced plastic hull is loaded with DNA from Kawasaki?s IJSBA championship-winning machines, including carefully designed sponsons and chines for enhanced straight-line stability and more precise cornering. Likewise, the 22.5-degree deep-V hull leans into corners, providing a smoother ride in rough waters, greatly reducing the lateral G-loads generated during turns and helps keep the rider in control.
The Ultra 260X also features a five-step adjustable handlebar position that riders to either stand up or sit down to enjoy the full breadth of power and versatility the jet ski provides. Add that to an enormous 60-gallon storage space and you have a jet ski that comes with all the requirements needed for some high-speed, open-sea action.

Bernie Ecclestone - No plans to put the brakes on

The way I feel at the moment, why stop? I do it because I enjoy it. And yesterday is gone. I don't care what happened yesterday. What else would I do? People retire to die. I don't get any individual pleasure because we don't win races or titles in this job. I'm like most business people. You look back at the end of the year and you see what you've achieved by working out how much money the company has made. That's it.

Vygor Announces New Italian Sports Car
Posted on 09.28.2011 15:00 by Simona |
There have been a number of new, impressive sports cars from the most anonymous manufacturers all over the world lately - vehicles such as the De Veno Arrinera prototype or the Rimac Concept One come to mind. Now, another random automaker is announcing a new sports car. Italian company, Vygor, has come out of the woodwork to announce that on October 10, 2011 at 10 am, they will be unveiling not only a new sports car, but a new luxury car as well.
Not much is known about the vehicle at the moment, but the company describes their new sports car as "an emotional car, like a wind-blow in the skin, like a thrill of sudden pleasure which takes your breath away...and unleashes emotions... the emotion to hear the thunder of the engine which is pure adrenalin, aggressive and biting as you have always dream but also mild as silk...the emotion of touching a panther...the emotion of taming the power..."
Creativity and marketing ploys aside, the company has only released a teaser image showing the front of the new sports car, compete with large air intakes and LED headlights. We’ll know more about Vygor’s new project as soon as it makes its official debut in October so stay tuned!
