Completed : Fujimi VW Golf MkV GTI

Hi, all.

I'm sharing my recently completed, fresh from the workbench Fujimi Golf GTI. The story starts from my real car purchase in November. After I decided to purchase VW Golf, I thought I have to build one in scale while waiting for the delivery.

As usual, I built the kit mostly out of the box with some additions and corrections. The kit was vague in terms of details and some details needed special attention; 3 pedals on the floorboard but with non-stick shifter, etc. Since the kit's rim appeared to be oversized, I decided to paint it instead of grey to make it somewhat smaller and also, a bit sleeker. I've seen an actual one with grey rims and it looked nice, too.

Everything was painted to match the reference photos as much as possible, including dash and interior parts and under chassis detail. The body paint is Gaia Pure White with mixed grey-black for the plastic panels. Interior is painted using various shades of grey and the chassis got weathering for "driven" look. I scratched a carton of milk and a bottled coffee, and an iPhone for the interior just for fun. This time, the license plates are Japanese specs with Euro plates behind it. I know the Japanese license plate completely ruins the look of the car, but that's what's we're required to have on our vehicles. It's just awful, we are all aware of that. In a way, that tells you that Japan is no car-culture country. I know we make a lot of them, but our country doesn't know what really the cars are...

Overall the kit is a fun to build but  because of meaningless too-tight fittings and questionable details here and there, the kit might not be the best of their releases.

Here're some pictures.

Some more to come.
